AMERICAN ACCENT FOR YOUNG PERFORMERS
A fun workshop for young actors and performers under the age of 16.
Learn the basics of the General (RP) American accent online in this workshop that includes improvisation, scripts, scene work and on-the-spot correction/direction.
YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Giselle LeBleu Gant
GISELLE is an actress from New York City. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BFA in Theatre, and The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with her MFA in Classical Theatre. She is a lover, teacher and practitioner of the art of Acting. She has taught many students as a teaching artist in Washington DC using Hip Hop and personal storytelling to create theatre and build artistic communities. As an actress, she was recently seen in her Kampala debut of “Much Ado About Nothing” at the National Theatre playing the title role of Beatrice. Her previous experience has been on many stages throughout New York, Texas and Washington DC. She can also be seen on an Emmy Award Nominated Web Series “Anacostia.”

WHAT YOU'LL DO
This workshop is for Young Actors and Performers under the age of 16 years.

Time will be focused mainly on scene work + scripts, so the performers have the opportunity for regular practice in an open, supportive, and creative environment, and a chance to develop their skills.
​
Content may differ depending on the duration of the workshop, individual needs, and those of the group collectively. However, the general structure will include:

Vocal warm-ups word exercises/sentences

Scene work and analysis

On-the-spot correction, direction, and guidance.

Character building, to help you get into the skin of the US character, which in turn helps the accent start to flow more naturally.

Audition Prep, to learn different techniques you can use for upcoming auditions or just for when practicing at home.
